zambian gov't disbursed 1.5 Trillion Kwacha For Development in september



The Ministry Of Finance Budget Office Has Disbursed 1.5 Trillion Kwacha For Infrastructure Development, Poverty Reduction, Debt Service, Personal Emoluments And General Operations Of Ministries Provinces And Spending Agencies [Mpsa’s].

Among The Recipients Of The Funding Is The Ministry Of Lands Natural Resources And Environmental Protection Which Was Given 12 Billion Kwacha For A Large Scale Programme On Afforestation That Will Involve Purchasing Of Tree Seedlings For Replanting In Environmentally Degraded Regions Of Zambia.
The Ministry Of Lands Also Received 5 Billion Kwacha For Upgrading The Lands Management Information System And Once Completed, It Is Expected That The Lands Management Information System Will Ensure That The Government Maintains Accurate Records On Land Matters To Ease The Burden Of Countrywide Land Administration.
Out Of The 1.5 Trillion Kwacha Released In September Funding, Ministry Of Transport Works Supply And Communications Received 65.2 Billion Kwacha Of Which Aerodrome Infrastructure Development At The Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport In Livingstone Was Allocated 16 Billion Kwacha To Facilitate The Speeding Up Of Rehabilitation And Expansion Works In Readiness For The 2013 Un World Tourism Conference.
The Same Ministry Also Received 20 Billion Kwacha Towards Purchase Of Fire Tenders To Boost Safety Facilities At Aerodrome Facilities In Zambia.
296 Billion Kwacha Was Given To The Loans And Investments Portfolio Under The Ministry Of Finance Of Which 4.5 Billion Kwacha Went Towards Recapitalization Of Zambia Railways.
Through The Public Service Management Division At Cabinet Office, The Public Service Pensions Fund Received 20.1 Billion Kwacha Towards Pension Dues.
The Ministry Of Finance Budget Office Also Released 75 Billion Kwacha As Constitutional And Statutory Expenditure For External Multilateral Debt Service, An Important Measure In Maintaining Zambia’s Credit Worthiness Which Has Been Widely Acclaimed As Evidenced By Over-Subscription Of The Inaugural International Bond.
Ministry Of Agriculture And Cooperatives Received 6.8 Billion Kwacha Of Which 4.2 Billion Kwacha Was Allocated To The Food Security Programme And 2.3 Billion Kwacha To Bilateral, Multilateral And Regional Agriculture Development Programmes.
The Ministry Of Education Received K24.5 Billion Of Which The Research And University Education Programme Got K17.7 Billion, Examinations Council Of Zambia K1.2 Billion, Tevet Sub Sector K1.8 Billion, And The Science And Technology Sub Sector K2.2 Billion.
The Ministry Of Health Received K13.6 Billion Of Which The Purchase Of Medical Supplies Was Allocated K5.4 Billion.
The National Assembly Got K31 Billion Of Which Legislative Activities Were Allocated K4.1 Billion And Parliamentary Oversight K1.1 Billion.
Ministry Of Justice Got K24 Billion Of Which Compensation And Awards Was Allocated K15 Billion And The Programme On Dismantling Of Other Arrears Got K9 Billion, While The Anti-Corruption Commission Received K2 Billion For Purchase Of Plant And Equipment Necessary For Operational Improvements In The Fight Against Corruption.
The Ministry Of Finance Has Appealed To Members Of The Public To Take-Up The Civic Duty Of Monitoring Programmes Financed And Implemented By Government In Order To Ensure That Public Resources Are Utilized For Intended Purposes.
The Ministry Says In This Way, Stakeholders Will Be Able To Monitor Governments’ Performance In Delivering Improved Services, Employment Creation And Poverty Reduction In Zambia
