ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS TWO CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES TO CARRY OUT ROAD WORKS BETWEEN MPIKA AND SERENJE ON THE GREAT NORTH ROAD

GOVERNMENT HAS CONTRACTED TWO COMPANIES TO CARRY OUT ROAD WORKS BETWEEN MPIKA AND SERENJE ON THE GREAT NORTH ROAD WHICH IS IN BAD CONDITION AT THE MOMENT.
FINANCE AND NATIONAL PLANNING DEPUTY MINISTER CHILESHE KAPWEPWE WHO HOWEVER COULD NOT DISCLOSE HOW MUCH HAS BEEN SOURCED FOR THE ROAD SAID THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ROAD IS IN LINE WITH GOVERNMENT’S VISION UNDER THE SIXTH NATIONAL PLAN OF IMPROVING INFRASTRUCTURE.
MS. KAPWEPWE POINTED OUT THAT GOVERNMENT HAS REALIZED THAT IMPROVING THE INFRASTRUCTURE SUCH AS ROADS WILL GREATLY HELP THE COUNTRY IMPROVE ITS ECONOMY FURTHER AS IT WILL CONNECT PEOPLE LIKE FARMERS TO AVAILABLE MARKETS TO SELL THEIR PRODUCE.
SHE SAID THAT THE ASSERTIONS BY CERTAIN QUOTAS OF SOCIETY THAT GOVERNMENT IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMY IS A FALLACY WHICH SHOULD BE DISPELLED AT ALL COST BECAUSE EVIDENCE IS THEIR TO SHOW.
MS. KAPWEPWE WAS SPEAKING AT A MEDIA BRIEFING IN LUSAKA YESTERDAY.
AND SPEAKING AT THE SAME BRIEFING FINANCE AND NATIONAL PLANNING MINISTER DR. SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE DISCLOSED THAT THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT WILL SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE THE ENGAGEMENT OF AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK OVER THE CONSTRUCTION OF A RAILWAY LINE FROM ZAMBIA TO ANGOLA.
DR MUSOKOTWANE SAID THE GOVERNMENT WILL SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE THE BANK AT NEXT MONTH’S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING TO FIND THE WAY FORWARD
