2FRA agents arrested on the copperbelt for allegedly stealing over 14,000 by 50kg bags of maize valued over 1.4billion kwacha


The Government Joint Investigations Team has formally arrested two (2) FRA Agents for alleged theft of 14,407 by 50 kilogram bags of maize valued at 1 Billion Three Hundred and Seventy One Million Nine Hundred Thousand Kwacha (K1, 371, 900).


The two Brothers Mr. Michael Chirwa aged 50 of Chinese complex extension and owner of Sarah‘s Corner in Masala and Mr. Steven Chirwa, aged 40 of house number 2764, Mangwana Masala, Ndola have been arrested with:

1.   Four Counts of Theft by Agent Contrary to Section 278 of the Penal Code, Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

2.    Four Counts of Forgery and Uttering of False Documents Contrary to Section 357 and 352 of the Penal Code, Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that Mr. Micheal Chirwa and Mr. Steven Chirwa purported to be transporters of FRA maize through three (3) companies namely PEMU Enterprise, JOBWE Transporters and L M Transporters which companies are not registered with PACRA.
The mentioned Maize was not delivered to the designated depots.

The Investigations Team has also seized two motor vehicles belonging to Mr. Micheal Chirwa a Toyota Voxy registration number ACM 5064 and an unregistered Spacio. The two vehicles are suspected to be proceeds of crime.

The two are currently in police custody at Ndola Central Police Station and are sheduled to appear in Court soon.
