10 prohibited immigrants convicted by zambian courts of law


A total of ten Prohibited Immigrants have been convicted by the courts of Law for the offences of unlawful stay in the country contrary to section 11 clause 3  and harboring contrary to section 46 sub-section1(b) of the Immigration and Deportation Act No. 18 of 2010.

three of the ten convicted Prohibited immigrants are Nigerian nationals while the remaining seven (7) are all Egyptian nationals.

one of the three Nigerian nationals was sentenced to a fine amounting to 3.6million kwacha or in default three months simple imprisonment for harboring the other two.
the other two Nigerian Nationals, one was sentenced to a fine amounting to 6million kwacha or in default nine months simple imprisonment while the other was sentenced to a fine amounting to 5million kwacha or in default Six months simple imprisonment.
the seven Egyptian nationals were slapped with fines ranging from 1.8million kwacha to 6million kwacha.
reports say Embassies have come in to support their nationals and they have all complied that they will pay the fines.
