ACC arrest luanshya PF concillor for corrupt practicies involving 1000 rebased kwacha

The Anti-Corruption Commission in Kitwe has arrested a Luanshya Councilor and another private person for corrupt practices involving KR 1, 000 rebased kwacha.

Gershom Mpundu, a PF councilor for Ward No. 23 Baluba in Luanshya, and Evaristo Chisenga a resident of Mpatamatu in Luanshya were arrested on Friday and charged with Corrupt Practices with a Private Body contrary to Sections 20 (2) as read with Section 66 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

Details are that Gershom Mpundu and Evaristo Chisenga on dates unknown but between 1^st April 2012 and 17^th April 2012 in Luanshya jointly and whilst acting together corruptly gave KR 1, 000 (K1 Million) cash gratification to Yarmson Njalili, a Human Resource Officer at 15 MCC Milyashi Mine as an inducement or Reward for the said Yarmson Njalili to offer employment to Evaristo Chisenga at 15MCC Milyashi Mine, a matter or transaction that concerns 15MCC Milyashi Mine a Private Body.

The two were remanded in custody by the Luanshya Subordinate Court at Luanshya Prison awaiting the ruling on their bail application which will take place on 7^th March 2013.
