ACC arrest luanshya PF concillor for corrupt practicies involving 1000 rebased kwacha



The Anti-Corruption Commission in Kitwe has arrested a Luanshya Councilor and another private person for corrupt practices involving KR 1, 000 rebased kwacha.

Gershom Mpundu, a PF councilor for Ward No. 23 Baluba in Luanshya, and Evaristo Chisenga a resident of Mpatamatu in Luanshya were arrested on Friday and charged with Corrupt Practices with a Private Body contrary to Sections 20 (2) as read with Section 66 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.
Details are that Gershom Mpundu and Evaristo Chisenga on dates unknown but between 1st April 2012 and 17th April 2012 in Luanshya jointly and whilst acting together corruptly gave KR 1, 000 (K1 Million) cash gratification to Yarmson Njalili, a Human Resource Officer at 15 MCC Milyashi Mine as an inducement or Reward for the said Yarmson Njalili to offer employment to Evaristo Chisenga at 15MCC Milyashi Mine, a matter or transaction that concerns 15MCC Milyashi Mine a Private Body.
The two were remanded in custody by the Luanshya Subordinate Court at Luanshya Prison awaiting the ruling on their bail application which will take place on 7th March 2013.
