A Total Of 873 Residents In Sinazongwe District Were Screened And Treated During The Free Medical Screening And Treatment Camp That Was Sponsored By Maamba Collieries Limited On Wednesday May 15, 2013 In Maamba In Sinazongwe District.

Meanwhile, Out Of The 90 Malaria Tests Carried Out, 45 Were Positive And Provided With Treatment By The Medical Team And The Same Number Of People Was Screened During The Medical Camp At Sinankumbi Primary School Last Month And, Again, 45 Of Them Tested Positive To Malaria.

Mamba Collieries Limited Head Of Corporate Affairs Janardhan Says This Is An Indication That Malaria Cases Need More Attention And It Is A Challenge That It Must Do More Adding That The Company Intends To End The Exercise Because Corporate Social Responsibility Is High On The List Of Its Priorities.

Mr. Lavu Has Thanked Vice President Dr Guy Scott For His Inspiring Message When He Addressed The People And His Wife Charlotte Who Was The Guest Of Honor.

 The Company Also Donated 250 High Quality Blankets To Maamba Hospital And Were Handed Over To The Hospital Management By Mrs. Scott.

Mr Lavu Says Cervical Cancer Screening And Eye Tests Would Form Part Of The Next Phase Of The Medical Camp Following The Huge Demand For The Two Services.

He Says This Is The Second Medical Camp Within A Short Period Following Another Camp Conducted Last Month When 405 People Were Tested And Treated Of Various Ailments And This Brings The Total Number Of People Screened And Treated To 1,280..

The Decision To Sponsor A Free Medical Camp At Maamba Private School Is In Line With The Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (Csr) To Reach Out To The Underprivileged People In The Communities.

The Launch Of The Programme Was Witnessed By 15ministers’ Spouses, Led By Mrs Scott And Later In The Day, The Community Was Joined By Dr Scott Who Was Accompanied By Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe, Deputy Minister Of Commerce, Trade And Industry,  Richwell Siamunene, Who Is Also Sinazongwe Member Of Parliament.

Also In Attendance At The Event Was Maamba Collieries Limited Board Chairman Ashok Devineni, Resident Director Ashwin Devineni And Other Mcl Members Of The Board Directors And Mc Management.

Maamba Collieries Mobilized Four Medical Doctors For The Exercise Covering Four (4) Areas That Included Gynecology, Surgical, Dental And General Body Conditions.

The Surgeon Attended To 73 Cases Of Mainly Hernia And Growths And Out Of The 73 Cases, 13 Were Recommended For Operation And Further Attention At Maamba Hospital.

The Gynecologist Attended To 74 Cases Out Of Which 5 Were Referred To Monze General Hospital While The Dentist Saw 44 Cases And Most Them Were Referred To Maambahospital For Teeth Extraction.
