Mazabuka chamber of commerce and industry demands for membership fee from zambia sugar

Mazabuka Chamber Of Commerce And Industry (Mcci) Is Demanding That Zambia Sugar And Other Companies To Pay Chamber Membership.

Mcci President Charles Mvula Says It Is From The Membership Fees That The Chamber Will Stand And Operate Effectively, Thus Promoting Of Local Economic Growth, Sensitization Of The Local Business Community  And Lobbying Of New Investors To Mazabuka, Like Bringing In Pick And Pay .

Mr. Mvula Has Explained That As Of Now, The Chamber Is Struggling To Address A Lot Of Sensitive Issues Affecting The Local Business Community Like In The Case Where There Is No System On Procurement At Zambia Sugar As This Has Been Outsourced To A Lusaka Based Company.

He Says This Situation Is Very Difficult For Local Business People To Get Orders Though This System Adding That All These Issues Have Been Brought To The Chamber’s Attention But Due To Lack Of Funds It Has Not Been Able To Effectively Resolve With The Stake Holders.

Meanwhile The Mazabuka Chamber Of Commerce And Industry Says It Realizes That It Is A Private Company But Also Management Must Look At Their Social Responsibility And Help The Economy Of Mazabuka And The Local People As Zambia Sugar Is A Local Mazabuka Company.

Mr. Mvula Has Noted That The Procurement Is In Lusaka And The Local People Are Referred There When They Approach Zambia Sugar For Business Which Is Very Difficult For Them As They Are Struggling To Keep Their Business Afloat.

He Says The Local People Are Not Seeing The Benefits Of Zambia Sugar Being In Mazabuka As Zambia Sugar Is Not Supporting Them At All.

Mr. Mvula Has Noted That The Mines On The Copperbelt Has Made It Possible For The Local Contractors And Other Local Business People To Benefit By Being Awarded Contracts Equally.

He Says Then Zambia Sugar; Even If It Is A Private Company Has Been Awarding Contracts To Selected Companies Which Would Run For 5 Years Which All The Local People In Mazabuka Do Not Understand.

The Chamber Through Mr. Mvula Has Appealed To Zambia Sugar Company To Sit Down With The Local Community And The Chamber And Formulate An Understanding On How Zambia Sugar Can Help The Local Community And The Business People At Large.
