Once established, the Turkey-Zambia Business Council will
enhance economic relations between the two countries.
Zambia’s Ambassador to Turkey Miriam Mulenga and DEIK
President Omer Cihad Vardan have both stressed urgent need for the two
countries to work out modalities of setting up the Turkey-Zambia Business
Council to give impetus to the growth of economic relations.
Speaking during a consultative meeting with Mr Vardan in
Istanbul yesterday, Ambassador Mulenga pointed out that Zambia is eager to see
the Turkey-Zambia Business Council established as this would strengthen
economic ties between the two countries.
Ambassador Mulenga says Zambia want to tap into Turkey’s
economic prowess in the various sectors of the economy and is therefore keen to
have the Turkey-Zambia Business Council functional, to serve as a catalyst of
leveraging investment and trade opportunities in which the private sector would
play a leading role.
Establishment of the Turkey-Zambia Business Council is in
line with Turkey’s Foreign Policy towards Africa, based on improving and
developing political, economic, commercial, and cultural interaction with
African countries.
