Opposition MMD Expels its mufumbwe member of parliament for gross misconduct


Opposition MMD has with immediate effect expelled party mufumbwe member of parliament Stephen masumba after a critical examination of his case.


and the party has vowed to follow mr masumba to his constituency and defeat him there if he does not seek a legal suite.
According to a letter dated 26th July 2012 and written to Mr. masumba by MMD national secretary major Richard kachingwe, the party national executive committee has acted in accordance with articles 19 and 52 clause 2 of the MMD constitution.

Major Kachingwe has explained that the national executive committee has expelled Mr. masumba from the party for gross misconduct.

Prior to his expulsion Mr. masumba was serving as deputy minister for local government and housing.

Meanwhile party national executive committee (NEC) at its meeting today, as resolved that the defiant members of parliament serving as deputy ministers in the pf government should take not that the position announced by party president dr nevers mumba is still in force.

And the MMD NEC has appointed a five man adhoc sub-committee comprising of former finance and national planning minister dr situmbeko musokotwane as chairperson, former kafue member of parliament Bradford machila, sureshi desai, jane mukalipi and Maggie Musonda as committee members.

The five man adhoc sub-committee will critically scrutinize the responses by the affected 7 members of parliament remaining and later submit a comprehensive report to NEC for determination.
It has also resolved that submission of applications for NEC casual positions is still open to all interested and committed members
