30year old Lusaka maid arrested for being in possession of $700 counterfeit notes


The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested a 30-year-old maid for being in possession of 700United States Dollar counterfeit notes.


Particulars of the offence are that Rose Nikisi, 30, of Ng’ombe Compound, Lusaka, on 12th September 2012 did possess $700 United States Dollar counterfeit notes which she presented to a named Bureau de Change with intention to change the said notes into kwacha equivalence.

Ms nikisi has since been charged with possession of counterfeit notes contrary to section 358 of the Penal Code, Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Meanwhile, the Commission in Luapula province conducted a special operation over the weekend and arrested 19 people for trafficking in 32.5kg of loose cannabis and 15.3 kg of cannabis seeds.

In a related development, the Commission in Nakonde district has arrested and jointly charged Emmanuel Sambo, 22, alias ‘Mike Samuel Simukonda’ of Ntindi village and Jonathan Hilary, a Tanzanian national of Kinjala in Dar-es-salaam for trafficking in 61 bundles of miraa weighing 25.8kg.

And in the last two weeks the Commission has arrested a total of 167 people for trafficking in various quantities of Narcotic and Psychotropic substances.

All suspects will appear in court soon.
