DEFECTION OF MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT IN ZAMBIA BEGINS AS PARLIAMENT SINE DIE TODAY

THREE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT FROM THE UNITED LIBRAL PARTY (ULP), MOVEMENT FOR MULTI PARTY DEMOCRACY (MMD) AND AN INDEPENDENT FROM DUNDUMWEZI CONSTITUENCY HAVE TODAY DITCHED THEIR PARTIES AND JOINED THE UNITED PARTY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (UPND).
SPEAKING WHEN HE DEFECTED TO THE OPPOSITION UPND TODAY ULP LUKULU WEST MP BATUKE IMENDA ACCUSED THE RULING MMD OF HAVING STOLEN EVERY IDEA WHICH THE UPND FORMULATED WHEN THE PARTY WAS FORMED IN 2001 AND LATELY HAS BEEN GIVING ERRATIC DEVELOPMENT TO THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE.
MR IMENDA VOWED THAT THE BAROTSELAND WHICH IS WESTERN PROVINCE IS NOT FOR ANY PARTY APART FROM THE UPND AND ALL PARTY MEMBERS MUST SEND THE MESSAGE STRONGLY TO THE OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY.
AND KATUBA MP JONAS SHAKAFUSWA WHO ALSO OFFICIALLY DITCHED HIS PARTY, HAS ACCUSED THE RULING PARTY OF CHANNELING THE MONEY MEANT FOR DEVELOPMENT TO PERSONAL USE.
MR SHAKAFUSWA WHO EXPRESSED DISAPPOINTMENT AT THE CURRENT STATE OF AFFAIRS OF THE ECONOMY WHICH HE SAID NEEDS SURGERY STATED THAT THE CURRENT LEADERSHIP OF THE MMD IS RIDING ON THE FRUITS WHICH WERE PLANTED BY OTHER PEOPLE LIKE THE LATE PRESIDENT DR CHILUBA AND MWANAWASA.
MEANWHILE DUNDUMWEZI INDEPENDENT AREA MP EDGAR SING’OMBE HAS ALSO RESIGNED TO JOIN THE UPND STATING THAT HIS PEOPLE ARE BITTER WITH THE MMD WHICH DISPLACED THEM FROM THEIR LAND.
MR SING’OMBE SAYS THE PEOPLE OF DUNDUMWEZI DECIDED THAT IT IS TIME THEY WORK WITH FRESH AND VIBRANT LEADERSHIP WHICH WILL ADDRESS THEIR PLIGHT AND NOT LEAVE THEM IN THE DARK LIKE WHAT THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT HAS DONE.
AND KABULONGA WARD 17 PF COUNCILOR CHARLES M’SISKA HAS ALSO DEFECTED TO THE UPND WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT STATING THAT THE PF LEADER MUST RETIRE FROM POLITICS.
IN CLOSING THE DEFECTION PROGRAMME OF THE FOUR POLITICIANS, UPND PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA HAS CALLED FOR UNITY OF PURPOSE IN THIS YEAR’S GENERAL ELECTIONS ADDING THAT ZAMBIANS MUST ELECT A LEADER WHO WILL RESTORE WHAT HAS BEEN LOST THROUGH CARELESSNESS AND MISMANAGEMENT.
