EGYPTIAN AMBASSADOR TO ZAMBIA SALAH EL SADEK HAS ASSURED THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT THAT THERE WILL BE NO CHANGE IN INVESTMENT INFLOW FROM THAT COUNTRY ADDING THAT MORE INVESTORS ARE LIKELY TO COME TO THE COUNTRY AS ONE WAY OF REGAINING ON THEIR LOSES DURING THE PERIOD OF PROTESTS.
SPEAKING TO JOURNALISTS YESTERDAY IN LUSAKA AMBASSADOR SADEK SAID THAT THE INVESTORS WILL BE IN A HURRY TO REGAIN THEIR LOSES WHICH THEY MADE AND WILL BE SEEKING MORE INVESTMENTS IN THE COUNTRIES LIKE ZAMBIA WHICH ARE PEACEFUL.
AMBASSADOR SADEK HAS ASSURED THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT THAT DESPITE THE PROTESTS WHICH HAVE BEEN GOING ON IN HIS COUNTRY, ZAMBIA’S ECONOMY WILL NOT BE AFFECTED IN ANYWAY AS THE PROBLEMS IN HIS COUNTRY ARE OF CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT AND NOT ECONOMIC FOCUS AND DIRECTION.
MEANWHILE ZAMBIA’S ECONOMY HAS BEGAN FEELING THE IMPACT OF THE EGYPTIAN 3WEEKS PROTESTS AS FUEL PRICES HAVE BEEN INCREASED BY MORE THAN 800KWACHA AND PETROL WHICH WAS COST ABOUT 7,639 KWACHA IS CURRENTLY COSTING ABOUT 8,647KWACHA.
THE ENERGY REGULATION BOARD ADJUSTED THE PRICES UPWARD ON FRIDAY WHICH WERE EFFECTED LAST NIGHT, JUSTIFYING THAT THE INCREASE IS AS A RESULT OF THE EGYPTIAN CRISES WHICH HAS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ROUTES NAMELY THE SUEZ CANAL.
