PRESIDENT RUPIAH BANDA HAS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED THE GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY FOR THE ICHIMPE COPPER AND COBALT PROJECT WHICH IS ESTIMATED TO COST AT A TOTAL SUM OF 690MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS IN KALULUSHI.
PRESIDENT BANDA SAID THE MINE WILL CREATE 1700 JOBS AT CONSTRUCTION LEVEL OF MORE THAN 2000 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES ONCE THE MINE IS OPENED IN 2014.
MR. BANDA SAID THE MINE IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE 35,000 TONNES OF COPPER AND 200 TONNES OF COBALT PER ANNUM.
THE PRESIDENT URGED ZHONGHUI AND ALL OTHER INVESTORS IN THE COUNTRY TO OPERATE WITHIN THE ZAMBIAN LAWS AND REGULATIONS BY KEEPING THE ZAMBIAN WORKERS HAPPY.
HE SAID IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH INVESTOR TO FACILITATE MEANINGFUL SKILLS AND TECHNOLOGIES TRANSFER TO ZAMBIA IN ORDER TO ALIGN WITH THEIR COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN TO TRAIN ZAMBIANS AND EQUIP THEM WITH THE REQUISITE SKILLS.
AND ZHONGHUI MINING GROUP PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSISTANT JOEY ZHANG HAS COMMENDED THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT FOE EMBRACING CHINESE INVESTMENTS.
MR. ZHANG SAID THE MINING SECTORS IS BOOMING IN ZAMBIA DUE TO FAVORABLE INVESTMENT POLICIES OF THE GOVERNMENT.
