ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT IMPLORES PRIVATE SECTOR TO TAKE KEEN INTEREST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND ITS CURRICULUM

THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT HAS IMPLORED THAT THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO TAKE KEEN INTEREST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND ITS CURRICULUM AS THEY BENEFIT MOST OF THE END PRODUCTS WHICH COME FROM THERE.
SPEAKING TODAY DURING A MEDIA BREAKFAST ORGANIZED BY THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, EDUCATION DEPUTY MINISTER DR BONIFACE KAWIMBE SAYS THE HIGHER INSTITUTION OF LEANING IS FACED WITH A GREAT NUMBER OF CHALLENGES SUCH AS INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE AS IN THE CASE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA.
DR KAWIMBE SAYS GOVERNMENT IS READY TO PROVIDE INCENTIVES TO THE PRIVATE COMPANIES WHICH WILL COME ON BOARD TO HELP PROVIDE MUCH NEED SOCIAL SERVICES SUCH AS INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AT HIGHER INSTITUTION OF LEARN SUCH UNZA.
HE DISCLOSED THAT THE $3MILLION WHICH GOVERNMENT HAS SOURCED FOR UNZA IS NOT ADEQUATE BUT WILL HELP IN THE RUNNING OF AFFAIRS OF SCHOOL HENCE IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT OTHER STAKEHOLDERS COME ON BOARD TO PROVIDE FACILITIES SUCH AS INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AT THE SCHOOL.
AND UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA VICE CHANCELLOR PROFESSOR GEOFFREY SIMUKANGA ALSO DISCLOSED THAT THE INSTITUTION HIGHER OF LEARNING IS FACE WITH A LOT OF CHALLENGES SUCH BED SPACE, HOSTELS, LECTURE THEATRE AND LIBRARY WHICH NEEDS EXPANSION AS THEY CAN NOT CARTER FOR 12 000STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED.
PROFESSOR SIMUKANGA SAYS THE UNIVERSITY HAS SET UP A COMMITTEE TO LOOK AT AREAS WHICH REQUIRES AGENT ATTENTION AND WILL START INVITING THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO ENGAGE THEM TO SEE HOW THEY CAN HELP TO PROVIDE FACILITIES SUCH AS HOSTELS, AND LIBRARIES
