ZESCO LIMITED AND COPPERBELT ENERGY COPRATION PLC (CEC) IN CONSULTATION WITH VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS AGREES TO ADJUST THE BULK SUPPLY TARIFFS TO CEC BY 30PERCENT

ZESCO LIMITED AND COPPERBELT ENERGY COPRATION PLC (CEC) IN CONSULTATION WITH VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS HAS AGREED TO ADJUST THE BULK SUPPLY TARIFFS TO CEC BY 30PERCENT WITH EFFECT THIS YEAR.
ACCORDING TO A JOINT COMMUNIQUÉ MADE AVAILABLE TO RADIO PHOENIX TODAY THE TWO POWER UTILITIES AGREED THAT TARIFFS MUST SYSTEMATICALLY MIGRATE TOWARDS COST REFLECTIVITY IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE LONG TERM SUSTAINABILITY OF THE POWER INDUSTRY IN ZAMBIA.
THE TWO POWER COMPANIES BELIEVE THAT IMPROVEMENT IN THE TARIFF WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL RESOURCES TO SUPPORT CURRENT EFFORTS OF EXPANDING GENERATION AND ITS ASSOCIATED TRANSMISSION INFRASTRUCTURE SO AS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE BEING RENDERED TO CEC AND ITS MINING CUSTOMERS.
